Nothing Like It

Launched by the Moby Group in August 2014, Lana TV is a new young
entertainment channel for Iraq.
The channel has a mix of Arabic dramas, locally made content
as well as established international formats.
The project was a unique collaboration between ourselves in London,
the Moby team in Baghdad and renowned calligrapher Wissam Shawkat
in Dubai.
The Challenge
Our role was to develop the brand identity and deliver a comprehensive
design manual to enable the local team to produce all the final assets
The Solution
We developed a distinctive and inclusive channel identity that is close
to the Iraqi people. Inspired by its rich culture, both from
a historical and a contemporary perspective our concept embraces Iraq’s
people, its places and its design.
Light is central to the whole identity, it is a symbol of hope and of
the future. Running through all the elements, it pulls them together,
creating a clear and defined brand. Like the sun, the logo sits at the
heart of everything. On this key element we worked with Wissam
to develop a striking and beautiful design. Bold and contemporary,
its strength is in its simplicity.
We introduced calligraphic elements into the overall package to bring
dynamism and localisation. These were brought to life as sweeping
strokes of light, driving the identity in a beautiful and contemporary way.
The navigational system is connected by a horizon line, a device
through which the typographic elements appear and disappear.
